Job Description:

Are you interested in working in team where the work is incredibly varied and you are involved in assisting with the delivery of regulatory actions across the entire range of the service? Dealing with a wide range of customers both internal and external, with a professional approach whilst seeking compliance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with the delivery of regulatory actions across the entire range of the service
  • Deal with a wide range of customers both internal and external
  • Assist with the delivery of a wide variety of statutory functions including assessment of air quality, port health border controls and sampling, health and safety, food safety and standards, animal welfare statutory nuisance, fair trading
  • Assist and support senior officers in the triage of service enquiries, referrals and advising on service responses
  • Engage with internal and external partners, members of the public and local businesses, victims and suspects of crime
  • Assist with obtaining evidence for a wide range of Trading Standards investigations
  • Take enforcement action which could include giving evidence in court

Requirements:

  • Trading standards qualification delivered through the Trading Standards Qualifications Framework or Level 6 Trading Standards Apprenticeship
  • Relevant enforcement experience
  • Professional approach
  • Experience of carrying out investigations
  • Understanding and knowledge of the judicial system (both criminal and civil)
  • High standard of communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good investigatory skills
  • Understanding of a range of enforcement sanctions
  • High level of IT literacy
  • Full, valid driving licence or ability to travel during the course of work when necessary
  • Ability to work flexibly as necessary, delivering out of hours services demand and participation in service rotas/shift work
