Job Description:

Being part of HSBC in Switzerland, you’ll help evolve and grow our business. The Regulatory Compliance Officer - Corporate & Institutional Banking will assist the HBCH Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRCO) in carrying out the mandate of the Compliance function and Regulatory Compliance in particular, conduct regulatory advisory activity supporting the Corporate and Institutional business in Switzerland, provide stewardship to the First Line of Defence on Regulatory Compliance risks, local and foreign regulatory requirements & developments with regards to the ongoing and prospective business activities, transformation initiatives or other projects, work closely with other departments and functions, active engagement and participation through various forums and by contributing to training, broadcasts and other communication initiatives on important Regulatory Compliance topics, assist the HBCH CRCO in ensuring that Branch and HSBC Group initiatives, and specifically those concerning the Compliance and Risk function, are properly addressed and rolled out in HBCH.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist the HBCH Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRCO) in carrying out the mandate of the Compliance function and Regulatory Compliance in particular
  • Conduct regulatory advisory activity supporting the Corporate and Institutional business in Switzerland
  • Provide stewardship to the First Line of Defence on Regulatory Compliance risks, local and foreign regulatory requirements & developments with regards to the ongoing and prospective business activities, transformation initiatives or other projects
  • Work closely with other departments and functions, active engagement and participation through various forums and by contributing to training, broadcasts and other communication initiatives on important Regulatory Compliance topics
  • Assist the HBCH CRCO in ensuring that Branch and HSBC Group initiatives, and specifically those concerning the Compliance and Risk function, are properly addressed and rolled out in HBCH
  • Engage and undertake advisory, oversight of regulatory related activity and developments, including: Regulatory Change Implementation, Conflicts of Interest, Cross border marketing, Market Abuse / Handling of Non-Public Information, Disclosures, Risk Stewardship
  • Understand of technicalities of products and services offered by HBCH
  • Identifying Regulatory Compliance risks in all services and products offered by HBCH
  • Understand the impact of compliance issues throughout HBCH
  • Business oriented approach, foster and maintain an attitude of ‘can do’ Compliance
  • Raise awareness of Compliance responsibilities within the First Line of Defence of HBCH
  • Maintain and improve standards of compliance in a rapidly growing and diversifying business
  • Keep abreast of all regulatory development and anticipate changes in order to ensure full compliance at all times

Requirements:

  • Degree in law or equivalent university degree preferred
  • Good understanding of Corporate Banking business, products, services and regulatory matters and initiatives affecting the industry
  • Good knowledge Swiss law and regulations, FINMA Circulars, applicable foreign law, and HSBC internal guidelines and policies
  • Solid and proven practical experience gained in the financial / banking sector or legal / compliance area
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Service-oriented attitude with ability to provide practical advice and solutions to meet business needs
  • Able to work independently and autonomously, while also being an excellent team player
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in French and / or German an advantage
  • Computer literacy required, with skills in all MS software (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel) and other applications
  • Due to immigration restrictions in Switzerland we will only be able to consider applications from Swiss or EU citizens or from candidates holding a valid Swiss work permit
