Job Description

National healthcare organization is seeking a versatile Regulatory Attorney with strong healthcare delivery experience to join the legal team. This hands-on role includes supporting hospital operations, advising on a range of regulatory and contracting matters, and working in a fast-paced environment where you will handle diverse legal questions related to patient care delivery, compliance, and provider operations. This position is remote and offers 20 hours per week with the potential to increase hours in the future.

Job Responsibility

  • Drafting and reviewing training materials, complex written legal advice, contracts, policies and procedures, and other documents
  • Performs and analyzes legal research by: leveraging in-depth and advanced knowledge to interpret and review legal documents
  • analyzing judicial decisions as well as statutory/regulatory authority
  • addressing complex research issues including but not limited to federal and state laws, rules, and regulations, accreditation standards, and/or other applicable guidance
  • escalating highly complex research issues to in-house attorneys
  • identifying patterns and trends impacting legal questions or issues and communicating legal research findings to in-house attorneys
  • Assesses legal risk and/or provides legal guidance by: applying advanced and in-depth knowledge of legal principles, business risks, regulatory landscape, and compliance considerations that have a significant impact on the organization
  • proposing solutions that mitigate legal risks, drive business strategy, and facilitate cost efficiencies
  • providing legal advice, risk assessments, and/or case recommendations to in-house attorneys
  • Advise hospital teams and operations stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters impacting care delivery, including clinical, pharmacy, privacy, medical staff, and credentialing issues
  • Address union-related and allied health practitioner issues
  • Provide legal counsel on complex care delivery topics for university health systems, community hospitals, and medical schools
  • Field a broad range of incoming operational questions from clinical, pharmacy, and administrative teams

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Must hold an active Bar license in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Maryland, Washington DC, Virgina, Georgia, Nevada, or Hawaii
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of regulatory experience advising hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, or community hospitals
  • Health care delivery experience ranging from hospital to post-acute and ambulatory settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, Medicare/Medicaid compliance)
  • Hands-on experience supporting care delivery settings—such as hospital operations, clinical, medical staff, credentialing, and pharmacy
  • Community hospital, academic medical center, or multistate experience (CA, HI, NV, Mid-Atlantic) strongly preferred
