Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Illinois
5-7 years of experience practicing environmental law, with a strong background in regulatory compliance, transactional work, and/or litigation
In-depth knowledge of federal and Illinois-specific environmental statutes, policies, and programs
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with efficiency and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and team members

Job Responsibility

Represent clients in a wide range of environmental law matters, including regulatory compliance, natural resource management, land use and zoning, and environmental litigation
Provide counsel to businesses, government entities, and individuals regarding federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents related to environmental concerns
Assist clients in obtaining permits and navigating regulations related to land redevelopment, hazardous waste management, and emissions compliance
Handle environmental due diligence for real estate transactions and corporate mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
Represent clients in administrative proceedings and litigation before courts and regulatory agencies
Stay current with new and evolving regulations, laws, and industry trends to provide proactive advice and solutions to clients
Build and maintain relationships with clients through effective communication and exceptional legal service
