Job Description

The Truck Jockey, under the general supervision of a Fleet Supervisor, is responsible for the safe and efficient moving of tractor trailers in the yard and will be used as a substitute for the fleet drivers when needed. This individual is also responsible for safely and efficiently handling finished product.

Job Responsibility

  • Safely and efficiently moving tractor trailers in the yard
  • Substitute for fleet drivers when needed
  • Safely and efficiently handling finished product
  • Operate tractor/trailer trucks, forklifts, floor jacks and pallet jacks
  • Operate tractor/trailer trucks to and from shipping and receiving dock areas
  • Drive routes and substitute for fleet drivers
  • Perform all DOT and/or Company required pre-trip safety inspections and maintain logs & records
  • Keep a daily record including trip reports and trailer yard inventory
  • Maintain exterior of all dock areas
  • Inspect tail end of drop trailer loads to ensure products are properly secured
  • Affix trailer seal on rear doors of drop trailer loads
  • Practice and adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures
  • Perform other job-related projects, duties and assignments as directed
  • Place paperwork (bill of lading, etc.) on dropped trailers
  • Assist in product transfer from the warehouse to the trucks
  • Maintain general housekeeping duties
  • Perform light maintenance

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • CLD Class A Driver's license
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Must be able to pass required driving test and DOT checks
  • Must maintain a valid driver license with a good driving record
  • Must be able to work overtime
