Job Description

As our Registrar, you will be the frontline representative for patient admissions, ensuring a streamlined and efficient intake process. You will play a critical role in facilitating accurate demographic and insurance information collection, vital for timely and appropriate reimbursement. Every day you will register and pre-register patients, minimizing wait times and ensuring all required documents and signatures are obtained. You will meticulously verify insurance eligibility and benefits, process co-payments, and provide detailed notes in the computer system for all payer-related and patient communications.

Job Responsibility

  • Registers/pre-registers patient in a timely manner, as evidenced by minimal to no patient waiting and minimal registration time
  • Obtains accurate and complete patient information for the registration process
  • Completes medical record requests within department guidelines
  • Provides adequate notes in computer system by documenting all payer related information, patient issues, physician office communications and any account related communication
  • Ensures correct forms are filled out and signed for each registration, payer-related forms, COA, Medicare notification letters
  • Ensures that patient handouts are being given out and explained (i.e.: Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Directives, Financial Assistance, etc.)

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Previous experience in a clerical setting
  • Typing speed 30 wpm
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in prior authorization precertification insurance benefits and how they apply to hospital registration or medical office setting
  • Medical terminology
  • Previous experience with an EMR
  • Cerner
  • Current BLS certification
