Requirements

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration
MRCS or equivalent postgraduate qualification
Completed basic surgical training in posts approved by a Surgical Royal College or an approved overseas equivalent
Validated logbook or appraisal document indicating appropriate operative experience
Competence in pre-operative and post-operative management of orthopaedic patients
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Excellent communication skills with children, families, and colleagues
Awareness of safeguarding and child protection principles
Knowledge of clinical governance and audit processes

Job Responsibility

Educational experience is available at registrar level (ST4-6) in general paediatric orthopaedics and trauma
Training covers a broad range of paediatric orthopaedic conditions, excluding malignant bone tumours
Trainees gain experience in deformity planning and correction, limb lengthening techniques (including circular and monolateral frames, intramedullary lengthening nails, and internal fixation), and both acute and long-term management of complex fractures
The post offers hands-on operative experience in trauma and elective cases
