Job Responsibility:
Administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures
Transcription and implementation of written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to respiratory care
Assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing
Recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities
Implement changes in treatment pursuant to written or verbal orders of a physician
Assess and initiate emergency procedures
Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery
Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders
Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens
Measure lung capacity of patients
Administer treatment prescribed by a physician for care of patients with breathing abnormalities
Assume primary responsibility for respiratory care treatments, including oversight of respiratory therapy technicians
Requirements:
Graduate of an Approved Respiratory Therapy Program with a Diploma or AAS Degree
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Previous experience preferred, however new grads welcome
Licensed by the Board of Medicine to practice in the state of South Carolina
Current BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
NRP certification required
PALS certification required
