Full Time Registered Practical Nurse position at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home, part of Riverside Health Care. The role involves delivering exceptional quality health care services, working within an interdisciplinary team, and providing nursing care to residents.
Job Responsibility:
Performs according to the Standards of Nursing Practice set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with the policies, procedures, and standards of Riverside Health Care Facilities
Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned residents
Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline
Complies with The Ethical Framework for Nurses in Ontario (College of Nurses of Ontario)
Provides nursing care to residents whose physical, mental, social, and emotional needs are stabilized
Assists the Registered Nurse with the care of the resident whose needs are not stabilized
Assists the Registered Nurse with the assessment and development of the residents’ physical, mental, social, and emotional needs, the plan of nursing care and evaluation of the nursing care plans (Nursing Process.)
Observes signs and symptoms pertinent to the residents’ conditions and reports any changes to the Registered Nurse on duty
Performs those procedures for which he or she has been prepared during his/her RPN training program and service training program and assumes responsibility for the nursing care, direction and guidance in the case of the absence of a Registered Nurse on duty
Performs treatments, reports to the Registered Nurse on duty, and records in Resident’s Treatment record
Assists individual residents in meeting proper nutritional needs, and helps maintain a correct fluid balance, and reports any problems and/or complaints to the Registered Nurse on duty
Assists and directs the Health Care Aides, to be available for help or advice at all times and maintains a good working relationship
Assists, wherever possible, with the rehabilitation of the residents, in accordance with the resident care plans, including participation in the Reality Orientation Program, if so directed
Assists and encourages the residents in the activities of daily living
Assists in maintaining a physical, psychosocial, and spiritual environment, which meets the needs of the residents
Assists in providing for the safety and welfare of the residents, a thorough working knowledge of the Home’s Emergency Plans
To assist in providing support, help and guidance to residents and their families at all times
Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents’ families and visitors and all staff of the Home
Responsible to ensure the Resident Bill of Rights is upheld
Assumes responsibility for personal and occupational growth and development, i.e., attendance at staff meetings, Inservice programs, etc.
Demonstrates the ability and competence to work with all computer systems and applications within the acute/long-term care setting, such as but not limited to Gold Care, Word, Excel
Participates in the department’s Quality Improvement Program
Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act)
Performs other related duties as required
Requirements:
Current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current CPR
Demonstration of strong nursing practice, skill and judgement
Possess excellent interpersonal skills including distinguished verbal communication abilities
Demonstrated critical thinking, leadership and mentoring skills
Exhibits the ability and competence to work with all computer systems and applications
Exercises behaviours consistent with Riverside Health Care’s Code of Conduct
Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights and weekends
