8A3 is an acute care unit that cares for patients that are within the services of Hematology/Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Neuro-Oncology, as well as Surgical patients from the Acute Care Surgery Surgical services.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive care for patients with benign and malignant disorders of the hematopoietic system such as Leukemia, Blood Disorders, Multiple Myeloma, and Myeloproliferative Disorders
This patient population provides a wide variety of medical/surgical experiences while primarily focusing on the specialty of Oncology
All nurses on this unit receive hospital-based chemotherapy training and chemotherapy administration competency checkoffs, will attend a Chemotherapy Course developed in partnership with other National Cancer Institutions, and will attend an Oncology Overview Course.
Requirements:
Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX
GN applicants will be considered for this position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate will have 45 days from date of hire to successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN licensure
