The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill two Registered Nurse (Nurse Clinician 3) positions, located at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin. Both positions are part of the health services unit (HSU). The shifts are ten hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with alternating days off. The hours expected are 11:45 AM - 10:15 PM. Under the general supervision of the Health Services Manager, the Nurse Clinician 3 (NC3) is responsible for providing complex skilled nursing care to DCC and DAI patients at Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI).
Job Responsibility:
Providing complex skilled nursing care to DCC and DAI patients at Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI)
Providing direct care and intake screenings to those brought from the county jails with minimal medical history available
Utilizing the nursing process and follow the Correctional Nursing Standards in their practice to screen, evaluate and assess the patient
Data collection from the patient and community providers, pharmacies, and hospitals
Implementing withdrawal orders after consulting Advanced Care Providers
Working closely with the DCI multidisciplinary team to provide the patient with resources to successfully manage their health care during their incarceration
Utilizing theoretical and evidence-based knowledge and practices to assess, plan, diagnose, implement and evaluate acute and chronic needs as well as response to care
Requirements:
Must possess and maintain an active unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or another state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact
Experience treating patient conditions with appropriate utilization of nursing protocols
Experience developing, refining, and revising a patient plan of care utilizing continuous patient assessment and evaluation
Experience providing healthcare education to patients and staff
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application
