In accordance with the standards of best practice of College of Nurses Ontario and the Mission, Vison, and Values of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre, the Assault Care and Treatment Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidenced based, safe, effective and ethical nursing care to all clients of the Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Program.
Job Responsibility:
Provide assistance to and relief for all areas as required
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams
May be called on to testify in court of law
Must be willing to participate in “on-call” roster
Regular and sustained attendance is essential for this position
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions
Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment with unpredictable situations
Ability to self-reflect on practice and make adjustments based on both internal and external feedback
Provide culturally competent and respectful care in accordance with hospital policy
Must adhere to organizational policies and procedures concerning cleaning, hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment in support of infection control measures and attend training when necessary
Coordinates care of acute medical patients requiring close monitoring and care in an outpatient environment
Other nursing duties as assigned
Requirements:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as RN required
Current Basic CPR certificate (BCLS) required
Additional education and/or experience relating to caring for patients with substance use disorder an asset
ASIST or SAFE-T training preferred or willing to complete
Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence training (SANE) preferred or willing to complete
CNA Psychiatric and Mental Health certification preferred or willing to complete
Intravenous/venipuncture skills/certification
Current knowledge of child protection/ duty to report requirements
Experience working respectfully with diverse cultures, especially First Nations
Additional training/experience related to crisis intervention and trauma
Minimum two (2) years experience required
Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills as proven based on previous experience in a similar role
