The Registered Nurse assumes primary leadership accountability and responsibility for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.
Job Responsibility:
Assume primary leadership accountability for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff
Maintain standards of professional nursing practice
Assess the patient utilizing the nursing process to formulate an individualized plan of care
Implement interventions and evaluate outcomes
Interpret age/disability specific information
Provide for the safe delivery of medication
Responsible for thorough, accurate reporting, and documentation of patient symptoms, responses, and progress
Assume responsibility for professional development, continuing education and maintaining licensure
Conduct ongoing assessment of clients from admission to discharge
Initiate medical/psychiatric crisis intervention
Review, revise, and update medical records
Transcribe and implement physician's orders
Follow up on client care responsibilities and communicate needs to staff
Implement staff assignments and delegation of duties
Float among various clinical services as assigned
Requirements:
Registered Nurse licensure
Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions
Ability to utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, evaluation)
Ability to administer medications safely and recognize adverse reactions
Ability to document care accurately and thoroughly
Ability to manage milieu and direct patient care activities of other staff
Ability to function as an advocate for patient needs/safety
Ability to float among various clinical services
