Department Summary: The MUSIC (Medicine United with Surgery in Caring for IBD patients) clinic here at Boston Children’s Hospital is a clinic within the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center. This multidisciplinary clinic is offered for children who have either had surgery or are considering surgery as a treatment for inflammatory bowel disease. We also provide second opinions on medical management/treatment recommendations for IBD patients.
Job Responsibility:
Providing direct patient care in both the MUSIC Program Clinics and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center Clinics in our Boston and Waltham locations
Providing patient assessment, obtaining medication histories, management and education on the care of ostomies/enteral tubes, medications and other care needs in the clinic setting
Coordination of community-based needs for IBD patients including collaboration with outside resources such as schools, camps, VNAs, home medical supply companies, pharmacies
Management of EPIC in-basket messages including answering patient questions and phone calls
assisting with medication refills, prior authorizations, durable medical equipment renewals
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Experience working with IBD patients and ostomy experience preferred
Background in working with children with chronic illness
The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, social workers, psychologists and other nurses
A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a registered nurse
Nice to have:
Experience working with IBD patients and ostomy experience preferred
