The Adult Medical-Surgical Unit at Aurora Medical Center Burlington provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions in a fast-paced environment focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The unit currently has 33 beds—23 on the West side and 10 on the East—with plans to expand to 37 beds next year, and maintains an average daily census of 29 patients with an average length of stay of about three days. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 4–5:1 on day shift and 5–6:1 on night shift, while nursing assistants typically manage 6–8 patients each. Required skills include BLS certification, with ACLS supported but not mandatory. Job Responsibility:
Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
