Provides safe, quality patient care in the Preop, Recovery or Operating Room of the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
Job Responsibility:
Assesses patient status on admission to the preop area, the operating room and/or the post-op area, and on a continuing basis
Provides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities
Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge
Documents interventions and patient’s responses
Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner
Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care
Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information, including, surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff
Requirements:
Graduate of a Nursing Program
Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license
BLS card from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date, must be valid for at least 60 days beyond start date
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer
6 months Pre/Post-Operative or Operating Room experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or an operating room within a hospital setting required
Nice to have:
ACLS certification preferred for Operation Room RN
One year Pre/Post-Operative or Operating Room experience, preferably in an Ambulatory Surgery Center
