At UCSF, the Cardiac Rehabilitation program is part of the Adult Ambulatory Department and closely aligned with the Heart & Vascular Center. This structure reflects how Cardiac Rehab functions as a medically supervised outpatient program that bridges specialized cardiac care with long-term self-management in the community. Opened in October 2019 in Millberry Union, Level B1, the program is staffed by experienced professionals who approach challenges, growth, and redesign with enthusiasm. UCSF Cardiac Rehab offers traditional in-person cardiac rehabilitation, telehealth options, and a hybrid model combining both approaches. The program also actively participates in clinical research to support advancements in cardiac rehab and patient care outcomes.
Requirements:
Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience in Cardiology
Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation program
Ability to work independently and exercise strong clinical judgment in an outpatient clinic setting
Certification or training in health promotion methodology that demonstrates competency in lifestyle change strategies, prevention practices, and health promotion counseling and education.
Strong telemetry interpretation skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
The ability to work well in a team environment
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
Nice to have:
Competent in health coaching modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change.
Telehealth work experience, particularly Cardiac Rehab telehealth individual and/or group exercise and consultative appointments.
Demonstrates experience in a Cardiac Phase II Program.
