Job Description

Baptist Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at our Baptist South location. This is a Full-Time Evenings shift position. This Registered Nurse position has a call requirement, and it is self-scheduled based on department needs and will require a 40-minute call response time. This role qualifies for competitive differentials and additional call compensation. Scheduled shift: 9:30am-10:00pm.

Job Responsibility

  • monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia
  • treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia and administering medication as prescribed
  • regularly checking vital signs
  • educating patients and their families on post-surgery care
  • updating charts, patient files, and medical records
  • providing for patient needs through use of nursing process
  • supervision of care provided by supportive personnel
  • coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • including patients and significant others/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • coordination and preparation of assigned room/case
  • assessment of patient care needs and anticipation of needs of the case
  • call rotation

Requirements

  • 2-3 years Surgical Services Experience
  • 2-3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
  • Conscious Sedation Certification Preferred
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Preferred
  • Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Preferred
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Required
