Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Registered Nurse for our Surgical Services Unit at Baptist Medical Center Nassau. This opening is a Full-time Days position and requires call.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) organization
  • Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • Serving as patient advocate and responsible for coordinating preparation of the pre and post operative patients
  • Admitting, assessing, planning, and implementing patient care according to ASPAN standards
  • 40 minute call response time

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree - Nursing
  • 2-3 years Surgical Services Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Required

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
  • Conscious Sedation Certification Preferred
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Preferred

  • Preparing the operating room ie: equipment setup
  • Preparing Lab specimens
  • Ensuring instruments, implants, supplies are ready based on the type of surgery
  • Be able to circulate and or scrub a case based on the day's assignment
  • Provide Conscious Sedation to Endoscopy patients
  • Continuously and systematically assesses the health care status of the patient
  • Initiates and maintains an individual plan of care
  • Collaborates with patient, primary care providers, family, internal and community resources to coordinate patient discharge/transfer needs
