The NICU is a 41 bed level III Intensive Care Nursery. We care for all sick and premature babies (as small as 23 weeks gestation). The NICU supports Labor and Delivery with a high-risk team to respond to all high-risk deliveries. The NICU has a Neonatal Transport Team that provides services to all Level 1I am v Nurseries and 11 centers in Southeastern Arizona and Northern Mexico. The team consists of a RN and a Respiratory Therapist. The team operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines utilizing the principles of the nursing process and critical thinking skills in order to maintain patient safety and well-being.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists
Writes or obtains initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans
Receives and reviews preceding shift reports and floor nurse reports
Notifies appropriate physician regarding unusual or unexpected events
Works with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team
Evaluates outcomes of patient care
Identifies and resolves workplace health and safety issues
Provides appropriate, direct patient care utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques
May manage IV lines
May perform administration of pharmacological vasodilator medications
Complies with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards
Orients, instructs, and educates assigned personnel
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards
Performs related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Current RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Additional certification may be required per department
Nice to have:
Bachelor's degree
One year of nursing experience in an acute care setting
