The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an independent, highly organized, and detail-oriented licensed Registered Nurse for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care for people with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.
Job Responsibility:
Performing direct nursing care for people with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
Providing work-related guidance, instruction, and explanation to lower-level direct care support staff on an assigned shift
Serving as designated lead worker to lower-level staff
Serving as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
Setting up, operating, and monitoring special equipment
Inventorying, ordering, and maintaining security of medication, drugs, and medical equipment and supplies into a computer system
Preparing and maintaining medical records and histories
Serving as Center-Wide medical/nursing resource during the absence of other professional nursing personnel
Serving as a Center Float Nurse for medication administration on an assigned shift, on-call rotation
Carrying out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of medical personnel
Requirements:
Graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two (2) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience
A bachelor’s degree in nursing and one (1) year of professional nursing experience
A master’s degree in nursing
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
Ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotation basis
Ability to serve on an on-call basis
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
Ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
Ability to use office equipment, including personal computers and basic computer skills
Ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury
Ability to pass the IDHS background check
Ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law
