Job Description

Registered Nurse position on a 32-bed medical–surgical unit (5 West) dedicated to caring for a high-acuity patient population, focusing on respiratory and infectious diseases with specialized expertise in chronic ventilator-dependent patients and patients with diabetes. Schedule: Nights 7pm-7am.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct patient assessments
  • Participate in the development of the plan of care
  • Implement and evaluate care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs
  • Collaborate with other health care team members in the delivery of care
  • Follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment

Requirements

  • 1+ year experience as an RN
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment
  • Knowledge of CHLA patient care policies and procedures
  • Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for complex patient care
  • Ability to communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
  • American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification required
