Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking to add a Registered Nurse to our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at our Baptist Jacksonville location. This is a PRN opportunity. Ideally, the RN hired into this role would be flexible with the shifts they are available to work. This RN would also expect to work 12+ hours per week on either 10 or 12 hour shifts. The nurse in this role will work as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat cardiovascular patients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process
  • Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • Coordinating and preparing assigned operating room/case
  • Assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case
  • Circulating, scrubbing, assisting on Cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
  • Providing care to patients requiring immediate treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition, including chronic medical and minor injuries or illnesses
  • Assist with patient care
  • Ensure sterile procedures are followed during surgery
  • Take stock of necessary equipment and medications
  • Advocate for patient’s safety and well-being
  • Participate in sedation of patients
  • Assist physicians during procedure by administering medications, monitoring vital signs and applying dressings
  • Coordinate operating room regarding sterility, cleanliness and availability of functioning equipment and supplies
  • Provide critical quality control to ensure patient safety

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
  • 1-2 years Operating Room Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Required

Nice to have:

  • Master's Degree - Nursing
  • Flexibility with shifts
