Western Health Footscray ICU is seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified Intensive Care Nurse to join our dedicated critical care team. Located in Footscray, the ICU currently operates 11 ICU-equivalent beds. In February 2026, the unit will transition to a new unit at the new Footscray Hospital.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure safe and high quality, evidence-based patient care is planned and delivered that is in line with Western Health values (Cares - Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety), policies and procedures
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure best care for patients
Promote and maintain a positive workplace culture that supports teamwork
Support, mentor and promote ongoing learning and professional development for all staff within the unit
Actively participate in quality improvement projects for the source
Requirements:
Postgraduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing or Critical Care Nursing
Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (APHRA)
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, as required
Demonstrated passion for intensive care nursing and a commitment to being a positive role model within the unit
Flexibility to work within a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Proficiency in basic computer skills
