An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit additional midwives to cover Maternity leave to our team on the Maternity Assessment Centre which includes Antenatal Clinic/Triage/Day Assessment Unit. This unit supports approximately 20,000 episodes of care per year for women who have high risk pregnancies allowing them to be cared for as an outpatient which enables women to remain at home with their families. This role also involves working with the Obstetric team in consultant led Antenatal clinics and the newly set up Maternity Assessment Unit. The job role is a fast pace of decision making, autonomous practice with medical cover when require in depth knowledge of a wide range of ante natal complications as well as core midwifery assessment skills in Triage.
Job Responsibility:
Provide holistic midwifery care to women/birthing people and babies in the antenatal, Intrapartum and postnatal periods
Deputise for the Band 7 in all clinical areas
Assess, implement and evaluate programmes of antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and neonatal care
Provide appropriate advice, knowledge and counselling to women and their partners
Act as an advocate for the women and babies receiving maternity care
Demonstrate appropriate behaviour/attitude when dealing with service users and colleagues
Provide parenting education, advice on health issues, and support in altering health behaviours
Requirements:
Current NMC Registration
Registered midwife
Maintained an up-to-date professional portfolio
Training in obstetric emergencies
To have obtained or be studying to degree level (or diploma with equivalent experience)
Recent experience in all aspects of midwifery practice
Competencies relevant to sphere of practice
Experience within UK maternity services
Nice to have:
Teaching/Mentoring qualification
Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills
