Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with learning and physical disabilities? Our client, a well-established provider of residential child care across East Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated Registered Manager to lead their welcoming home in Blackburn, supporting up to 4 young people with diverse needs including Learning Disabilities or Physical Disabilities, non-verbal communication, high-end autism, Makaton, and sign language.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment
  • Overseeing care planning, safeguarding, and compliance with Ofsted standards
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with children, families, and external professionals
  • Supporting and mentoring staff to deliver high-quality care and achieve KPIs
  • Managing budgets, occupancy, and ensuring the home meets its financial targets, including bonuses

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people with LD, PD, autism, and complex needs
  • Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, care standards, and Ofsted regulations
  • Ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Flexibility and resilience to adapt to changing needs
  • Understanding of personal care and communication methods such as Makaton and sign language (advantageous but not essential)
  • Proven experience in a similar setting or as a Deputy Manager ready to step up
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and care compliance
  • Relevant childcare or social care qualification
  • Safeguarding and first aid certifications (desirable)

  • Understanding of personal care and communication methods such as Makaton and sign language
