Job Responsibility:
Lead the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring consistently high standards of care
Create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring all safeguarding practices are robust
Drive a positive, inclusive culture where children feel valued and heard
Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, striving for excellence
Oversee care planning to ensure positive outcomes in education, wellbeing, and independence
Build strong relationships with external professionals and partner agencies
Manage, develop, and inspire your staff team through effective leadership
Ensure all safeguarding concerns are handled in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children
Maintain high-quality risk assessments and behaviour support plans
Lead on Regulation 44 & 45 processes, ensuring continuous improvement
Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and legislative frameworks
Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team
Deliver regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings
Support staff development, including progression to Level 3 Residential Childcare qualifications
Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and care
Requirements:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards) (Must hold Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in regulated children’s residential care (within the last 5 years)
At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role
Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 & Ofsted frameworks
Proven experience managing safeguarding and complex behaviours
Full UK Driving Licence
Nice to have:
Experience managing a Good or Outstanding Ofsted-rated home
Experience opening or registering a new children’s home
Knowledge of therapeutic / trauma-informed care approaches
