Job Description:

We have an opportunity for a Registered Children's Nurse to join their team of staff in the Nursing department. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child) to join our dedicated paediatric team. You will play a key role in providing high‑quality nursing care to children and young people attending our day case surgical unit and outpatient clinics. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys a varied workload, thrives in a supportive multidisciplinary environment, and is passionate about making the hospital experience as positive as possible for children and their families. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care for children across a range of clinical settings
  • Monitor and respond to changes in condition, escalate concerns, and carry out clinical observations, treatments, and interventions safely
  • Work in partnership with families and carers, providing information, reassurance, and emotional support throughout the care journey
  • Collaborate with medical teams, allied health professionals, and safeguarding leads to ensure coordinated care
  • Act as an advocate for children and young people, ensuring their safety, privacy, and dignity
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in accordance with NMC Code and organisational policies

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (Children / Paediatrics) with valid NMC registration
  • Experience delivering nursing care to children and young people in hospital or community settings
  • Strong communication and family liaison skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and family dynamics
