A Career with Purpose: Join the Team at WLRCThe Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) is looking for aRegistered Behavioral Technicianto join our team on our beautiful 90-acre campus. In this role, you will act as a key support system for our residents, serving as the person on the ground making a difference every day. You will work closely with residents to help them manage their behaviors and emotions using positive strategies, while also coaching Direct Support Professionals on how best to support the team. When challenges arise, you will step in to help calm the situation and get things back on track. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in tracking progress and serving as a voice for resident rights and safety.
Job Responsibility:
Provide Direct Support: Deliver hands-on care and clinical services to help residents manage their daily behaviors
Coach the Team: Train and guide Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) so they know exactly which interventions to use and when
Manage Crisis Situations: Step in during difficult moments to help refocus behavior, use crisis tools, and debrief with the staff afterward
Track Data: Observe behaviors and write detailed notes (including antecedents, behaviors, and consequences) to help identify trends
Maintain Records: Enter daily notes and data into the electronic health record system to ensure accurate tracking
Build Relationships: Foster positive and supportive connections with residents, staff, guardians, and families
Implement Plans: Administer specific behavioral interventions as directed by the supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Advocate for Rights: Serve on committees like the Human Rights Committee to ensure resident safety and well-being
Assist with Scheduling: Work with leadership to help plan shifts and ensure the campus has the right amount of staff coverage
Stay Sharp: Participate in continuous training on human behavior, assessment, and healthcare professionalism
Requirements:
High School Diploma
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
Must be certified or eligible for certification as a Registered Behavior Technician in the State of Wyoming within six (6) months of hire
Ability to create and maintain Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) account with BCBA supervisor linked
Ability to organize and follow a task through to completion with minimal administrative supervision
Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors
Ability to work directly with residents who display aggressive and challenging behaviors
Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities
knowledge or program adaptations
Knowledge of recreation and social programming
Knowledge of motivational techniques
Knowledge of training and assisting techniques
Knowledge of research techniques
Knowledge of intervention methods
Knowledge of ethics and how to maintain professional boundaries
Skills in using a computer and Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of and ability to perform emergency procedures, such as BLS, First Aid, and PCM
Knowledge of state government processes, applicable statutes, rules, and regulations
