Job Description:

Lawes Consulting is proud to be partnering with a leading insurer to recruit a Regional Underwriter, based full-time out of their Chelmsford office. This is a high-impact position focused on underwriting cross class commercial products. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing broker relationships, underwriting risks, and contributing to the region’s growth strategy.

Job Responsibility:

Develop and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with a select panel of regional brokers
Contribute to the delivery of financial targets and business objectives
Take ownership of the underwriting and development of large, complex, and technical cases
Establish yourself as a regional underwriting expert and technical point of reference
Foster a strong culture of governance and risk awareness across the team
Support and enhance relationships with strategic brokers and priority clients
Assist in evaluating and strengthening the local broker distribution network
Identify and convert new business opportunities within the broker panel

Requirements:

Strong understanding of the regional broker market
Demonstrated success in underwriting complex commercial products
Strong trading and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
Excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport and influence with ease
Proactive and driven, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation
Highly customer-focused with a reputation for service excellence
Confident decision-maker with sound judgment and attention to detail
