This is your opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge technical team at the RNLI in Scotland. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Regional Technician with mechanical and electrical knowledge who can work with full-time staff and volunteers to maintain some of the most prestigious and technologically advanced equipment at the RNLI.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and defect repair on Lifeguard equipment, Lifeboats, and launching equipment across Scotland
Work with Lifeboat Station Mechanics, Lifeguards, Contractors, and other technical staff
Conduct trials of existing and repaired equipment
Stay current in the use of existing technology
Learn and be involved in the roll-out and assessment of new equipment
Return RNLI search and rescue assets back on service as soon as possible
Requirements:
Completed a time-served mechanical apprenticeship or have a sound background and experience in mechanical, electrical and/or electronic engineering
England, Wales & Northern Ireland NVQ level 3, Scotland SVQ Level 5, Republic of Ireland NFQ Level 5 minimum or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Full driving licence
Willingness and flexibility to work out of hours and be on a call-out roster
Ability to travel with nights away throughout the Region
Must satisfy the Institution's medical and eyesight standards
Nice to have:
Driving licence B+E for towing
Forklift licence
IOSH
Working at Height
PASMA
PA testing
Good understanding of electrical and electronic systems
