Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, committed care professional to join our team as a Regional Support Manager in the East Midlands and Bury St Edmonds area. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully led good-rated care home and is now ready to apply their expertise, leadership and passion across multiple homes. You will work alongside Home Managers (not as a line manager), providing hands-on, practical support to ensure our homes operate smoothly, compliantly and efficiently - while remaining happy places for residents, relatives and staff. This is a highly autonomous role with real influence over how we run our business and strong opportunities for future progression.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide tailored, on-site support to Home Managers to help homes achieve and maintain Good CQC ratings
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of robust action plans following compliance inspections, audits and external reviews
  • Monitor progress against actions on a monthly basis, ensuring timely completion and sustained improvement
  • Support and participate in safeguarding and whistleblowing investigations, attending meetings as required
  • Work with homes to maintain high occupancy levels, drive private occupancy where appropriate and support positive resident and relative experiences
  • Support effective payroll management, cost control and workforce planning to minimise or eliminate agency usage
  • Review compliance reports, QA evidence and performance data, translating findings into clear, practical actions
  • Support completion of monthly Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) requirements and ensure evidence meets CQC expectations
  • Conduct focused audits (e.g. care planning, medication, infection control, pressure care and clinical monitoring) and produce clear summary reports
  • Provide hands-on operational and clinical support during periods of challenge, change or instability
  • Offer peripatetic management cover during prolonged Home Manager absence and provide intensive support to underperforming services
  • Act as an emergency point of contact when Home Managers are on leave
  • Support the induction and development of new Home Managers
  • Attend CQC inspections, resident, relative and staff meetings as required
  • Participate in weekly Home Management support calls and regional operational forums

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of CQC expectations and what good-rated care homes look like in practice
  • Senior care home management experience (e.g. Home Manager, Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead)
  • Experience working within large care home environments
  • Proven stability and longevity in previous roles
  • Experience managing safeguarding investigations and attending multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Experience conducting HR investigations and hearings
  • Excellent at building rapport and maintaining strong, trusting relationships
  • Calm, pragmatic, supportive and non-controlling approach
  • Highly organised, proactive and outcomes-focused, with a hands-on mindset
  • Confident interpreting compliance and performance reports and turning insight into action
  • Comfortable working independently while being a strong team player
  • Willing to travel extensively across the region and respond to emergency situations
  • Open to feedback, learning and professional development
  • Confident using IT systems and adopting new technologies

What we offer

  • Fully expensed company vehicle
  • High level of autonomy and influence
  • Strong opportunities for career development and progression
