We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing for over 500 employees. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in full-cycle payroll management, including bi-monthly payroll and proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.
Job Responsibility:
Own Americas payroll operations and compliance, with room to scale regionally
Act as payroll regulatory and tax compliance authority, including SOX
Build and maintain standardized, audit-ready payroll processes and controls
Lead payroll system design, integrations, automation, and reporting enhancements
Improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability through optimization and KPIs
Oversee vendors, system implementations, and process documentation
Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, and global payroll teams
Resolve payroll issues through root-cause analysis and corrective actions
Promote continuous improvement and employee-focused payroll excellence
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, business, or related field
8+ years of payroll experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles
Expert-level knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, taxes, and compliance
Proven success building payroll operations in fast-growing environments
Hands-on experience with payroll/HR systems, integrations, and reporting
Strong track record driving automation, efficiency, and process improvement
Experience defining metrics, controls, and quality standards
Skilled in process design, vendor management, and system implementations
Comfortable leading distributed, cross-time-zone teams
Highly analytical with strong stakeholder communication skills
