Job Responsibility:
Regional Legal Oversight, to ensure full compliance with local, regional, and international laws across all Southeast Asian operations, proactively updating internal policies to reflect evolving legal landscapes
Corporate Governance & Entity Management, to manage the administration of legal entities by collaborating with company secretariats and local authorities to maintain up-to-date compliance and support management board meetings
Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements with clients, suppliers, and partners to ensure all contracts are legally sound and protect the organisation's interests
Identify potential legal risks to develop effective mitigation strategies and represent the company in legal proceedings, including the management of external counsel when necessary
Champion data integrity by ensuring strict adherence to global protection laws (e.g. PDPA or GDPR), developing robust privacy frameworks, and leading response strategies for potential data incidents
Design and implement internal compliance policies across the organisation and conduct training sessions to ensure all stakeholders and employees are aligned with legal standards
Requirements:
Holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a comparable legal degree from a reputable institution
Proven track record of practising law within Malaysia or at least one other Southeast Asian jurisdiction, demonstrating a deep understanding of the region’s unique regulatory landscapes
A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a similar corporate legal role or within a multi-disciplinary law firm, with a strong focus on commercial law
Proven track record in complex contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and providing strategic legal counsel on general commercial matters
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the agility to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment both independently and as a collaborative team member
Professional fluency in English is essential
additional proficiency in Mandarin will be considered a distinct advantage for regional coordination
