Provide regular oversight and inspection/observations of substation commissioning activities
Train, as needed, and utilize the site HV Electrical Inspector to ensure daily coverage is provided
Maintain effective lines of communication with all company personnel responsible for the project, especially the site HV Electrical Inspector, as well as general contractors and sub-contractors
Prepare daily reports outlining progress of the work
Ensure that all commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project documents and specifications
Review and comment on contractor schedules and provide assistance to the project team in meeting the overall project objectives
Maintain and organize all substation commissioning documentation
Attend seminars regarding code changes and industry trends
Additional duties as required
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience that includes 10 years of related High-voltage experience
7+ years managing substation commissioning activities
Thorough knowledge of NEC and local codes, high-voltage safety codes, electrical theory, mathematics, electrical construction, maintenance methods, and the proper use of personal protective equipment
Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred
Strong problem-solving, statistical, and analytical skills
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills
Ability to comprehend construction documents including blueprints drawings and protective relay setting files
Visual acuity including sufficient depth perception, color recognition, and field of vision necessary to perform visual inspections, work with small parts, and take accurate measurements
Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor to customers, contractors, and other employees
Ability to be self-motivated
Ability to establish and maintain productive customer/partner relationships
Ability to train, delegate and leverage site electrical inspectors within the region for commissioning purposes
Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites
Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
Ability to walk 1 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites
Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 60 and 100 pounds
Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time, or as may be required, while on project sites
Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
