Manages the company’s HSE function in accordance with global and regional policies and procedures to meet business requirements. As part of a multifunctional team, this role partners with all areas of the organization to develop effective and progressive safety solutions that drive a culture of safety excellence and performance improvement with sustainable change.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a champion of safe behaviors and manufacturing practices by partnering with management, employees, and HSE professionals to raise hazard awareness and prevent injuries
Collaborate with operations and employees to review, implement, and sustain programs such as behavior-based safety, non-routine task evaluations, risk assessments, ISO safety/environmental standards, and corporate policies
Provide proactive guidance when reviewing engineering controls or design changes to reduce risks (e.g., machine guarding, ergonomics, traffic, fire/explosion, noise)
Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop effective corrective and preventive actions
Partner with environmental professionals and operations teams to complete inspection, monitoring, testing, and reporting requirements for environmental permits (air, storm water, wastewater, hazardous waste)
Prepare accurate, timely environmental reports for government agencies through collaborative review
Ensure regulatory and internal environmental reporting compliance by engaging cross-functional partners
Communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels through meetings, presentations, and written correspondence
Prepare the site and team for interactions with regulatory authorities (OSHA, MSHA, EPA)
Partner with Global and Regional HSE resources to bring in outside expertise and pilot new programs
Drive innovation by developing forward-thinking, risk-reducing solutions with site leadership
Build and sustain a high-performing, team-oriented culture by assessing and addressing staffing, training, and development needs
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, related Engineering, or Science field, or equivalent HSE experience
5–8 years of progressive HSE experience, including at least 3 years of team leadership, coaching, and mentoring
CSP certification
Strong understanding of OSHA requirements
Training in ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 preferred
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis capabilities
Strong project management and organizational skills
Collaborative mindset with ability to integrate diverse perspectives
