Job Description:

Allianz Commercial, North America is seeking an effective leader to lead the Liability Underwriting Function in the North American region. The role involves strategy development, portfolio steering, leadership, market management, and ensuring compliance with underwriting consistency, corporate guidelines, and local regulatory frameworks.

Job Responsibility:

Develop and execute the Liability regional strategy and proactively support the development of the global Liability strategy
Steer Liability portfolio to ensure the successful achievement of global targets
Provide clear vision and leadership to regional Liability underwriting staff
Actively develop talent portfolio to ensure the achievement of regional targets
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
Lead and manage the regional underwriting team
Manage cost center budget within plan
Develop and execute local portfolio strategy for Liability and ensure underwriting execution
Support the development of global Underwriting Liability strategy
Support the development of cross Liability regional strategy
Drive achievement of financial targets through portfolio steering and controlling
Monitor adherence to underwriting planning process and take corrective actions
Ensure underwriting consistency, discipline, and compliance with corporate guidelines, authority levels, governance rules and local regulatory frameworks
Support development and implementation of new and modified products
Support development and implementation of pricing tools
Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business
Coordinate with local distribution team to drive strategic plan execution
Maintain executive contacts and accompany underwriting of core or strategic accounts
Positively represent Allianz internally and externally
Drive functional area involvement in underwriting processes.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree - Preferable Degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline
Completion of professional insurance certification such as CPCU or SCLA
Minimum of 11+ years’ experience with a top expert understanding of regional/local line of business insurance markets and competitor markets
Minimum of 11+ years’ experience in Underwriting management position in relevant line of business, including experience in leadership of direct teams internationally and with complex global matrix environments
Ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters, including the ability to delegate tasks and steer team direction/goals
Top expert understanding of legal and regulatory framework
Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Liability
Ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks, applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs
Design, develop, and implement consistent, robust wordings
Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation
Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally
Persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
Analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail, and identify and resolve issues before they transpire
A deep knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), with the ability to leverage AI-driven insights to shape strategic decisions and drive innovation
Well-recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level, and well-established within the local market.
