Job Description:

This new role will provide strategic leadership while ensuring consistent, high standards of safety across multiple locations and regions. You will play a key role in shaping our safety strategy, supporting growth, and creating a proactive culture of safety and wellbeing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and deliver the regional food safety, health and safety strategy aligned to company objectives
  • Provide expert guidance, coaching and support to operational teams and Food, Health & Safety Managers
  • Line-manage and develop a team of Food, Health & Safety Managers, ensuring strong capability and consistent delivery
  • Ensure consistent implementation of policies, procedures, training and safety initiatives across all regions and locations
  • Oversee and support major incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions completed
  • Assess and monitor regional safety performance. Ensure high-quality, consistent monthly reporting that informs decision-making, influences improvement, and escalate risks or emerging issues
  • Lead and support key safety projects including digital safety systems, automated reporting and allergen management
  • Coordinate safety activities and communication across regions to reduce duplication and drive continuous improvement
  • Promote a proactive safety culture that encourages wellbeing, psychological safety and strong operational ownership

Requirements:

  • Degree / post graduate level (L6/L7) in either food safety or H&S e.g. Environmental Health, H&S, Food Safety or minimum L6/7 in H&S and L4 minimum in food safety
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (CIEH, IOSH, IIRSM)
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Skilled in incident investigation, risk assessment and performance reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, improve systems and support continuous improvement
  • Evidence of strong people / leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance standards and industry best practice

Nice to have:

  • Mentoring & coaching or management qualification e.g. ILM, leadership courses, DMS/MBA
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate safety organisation (e.g. CIEH, IOSH, IIRSM, etc) - Chartered Status desirable
  • Experience in both private and public sector
