Mountjoy specialises in providing professional and high-quality construction, refurbishment, building maintenance and facilities management services across the south of England. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Carpenter Multi to join our dynamic regional team. This mobile role will require cover for our contracts in Southampton, Fareham, Portsmouth & the Isle of Wight however, there may be the requirement to cover our contracts based in Wider Hampshire, Horsham, Woking & Windsor. It is a further requirement that the successful candidate must pass an Enhanced DBS check and Security Clearance. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace. The key activities you will undertake in this role will be: A wide variety of domestic and commercial carpentry repairs for local authorities (reactive and void works), education providers in occupied student accommodation, commercial buildings, lecture theatres, and offices and along with works in ancient monuments. The work will include fitting of various types of doors (inc Fire door), first and second fixing carpentry, kitchen installations, ceramic wall tiling, Carpet tiling, plumbing repairs and minor decorative works.

  • Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related repair requests
  • To ensure that the quality of work always meets the highest possible standards
  • Support all trades to deliver a professional and safe maintenance and repairs service
  • Respond swiftly to all emergency situations and resolve them efficiently
  • Keep the customer up to date with progress and plans
  • Undertake all work efficiently and cost effectively
  • Apply applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do
  • Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe, clean, and workable condition
  • Maintain accurate records of works undertaken with photographic evidence
  • Ask your supervisor for assistance when required
  • Be willing to work out of hours, if required
  • To work within the Mountjoy group and assist other contracts as directed
  • Always maintain your company vehicle in a clean and tidy condition
  • Be an inclusive part of the team and be part of an on-call rota (Out of Hours)

Requirements:

  • A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Carpentry
  • Must be competent in 2 other secondary skills
  • Full current driving licence
  • An Enhanced DBS check & Security Clearance
  • Over 3 years trade experience in the building maintenance industry
  • Fit & Fix Mortice Latch and Latch set, Door Hanging, Door Lining and Rebated framework
  • All aspects of kitchen installation with mitred worktop joints (internal & external) where applicable
  • Able to use the phone to communicate effectively
  • Be comfortable in dealing with customers and remain professional
  • Understand the need to complete outstanding pieces prior to starting in other areas
  • Be able to diagnose the right repair adopting the right first-time approach
