BCI is partnering with three Programme Partners in Côte d’Ivoire on a three-year project to facilitate regenerative practice adoption by cotton farmers. In addition to delivering regenerative outcomes for farmers, the programme will enable the sourcing of certified traceable cotton from the project areas. The project will also offer insight into best practices and learnings in terms of regenerative practices, indicators, adoption outcomes, and reporting. BCI is looking for a Regenerative Agriculture Coordinator on a fixed term basis to manage the project in close collaboration with the Africa Region team and the Global Programmes and Country Operations team at BCI. This role will support the delivery of field-based activities with Programme Partners as well as overall project management including generating workplans, grant compliance and financial and activity reporting. The duration of this role is subject to funding. This role will report to Regional Manager West Africa and will be matrix managed by the Senior Manager Integrated Design and Delivery in the Global Programmes and Country Operations team.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for overall project management and day to day implementation of the three-year project ensuring all activities are delivered on time, within the scope and budget
Support the planning and delivery of the project launch meeting and other workshops and meetings that will take place with stakeholders in Cote D’Ivoire
Identify and assess risks to the project, communicate these internally, prepare mitigation plans, and ensure their effective implementation
Work closely with the Programme Partners, various internal Better Cotton teams (e.g., MEL, Finance, Certification, Traceability) and other key stakeholders to ensure project goals are aligned and achieved efficiently
Support the planning and implementation of producer units and gin certification audits in coordination with BCI staff, programme partners and certifying body
Provide support and guidance to programme partners and other project stakeholders on regenerative agriculture and traceability requirements, in coordination with the BCI Africa traceability focal point and global traceability team
Identify and work with technical experts to develop and deliver training on regenerative agriculture practices for the programmes Partners, so they can delivery project activities and report effectively
Collaborate with the Core Project Team to map all reporting requirements for the external donor, and support the development of user-friendly reporting templates for narrative and financial reporting
Support the Programme Partners in preparing detailed budgets that align with programme goals and donor requirements
Collaborate with the MEL consultants to ensure robust data management system is implemented for this project covering collection, analysis, and reporting of outcome indicator data, informing data-driven decision-making and reporting to the donor
Support the design, setup, and implementation of digital data collection systems for farm-level data management, including the configuration of mobile data collection tools, database structuring, data flow mapping, and quality control processes to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely digitalization of agricultural data across the production units
Requirements:
Degree in agronomy, rural development, social sciences or equivalent experience
5+ years experience in agricultural value chain programmes or agricultural development sector
Experience of working on regenerative agriculture or similar fields (desirable)
Demonstrated interest in sustainability and international development
Strong project management skills – ideally in the Africa development context (essential)
Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement operations, smallholder agriculture programmes, including knowledge of farming systems, input supply chains, agricultural extension services, and value chain development within cotton or similar cash crop sectors
Familiarity with Cote D’Ivoire and agronomy context
Ability to manage and analyse complex budgets
Demonstrated proficiency in mobile data collection platforms, including hands-on experience in designing, testing, and deploying digital data collection forms and surveys for field-level agricultural data management
Well-developed strategies for time and complex process management
data management and internal communications
Fluent in French and English required
