We’re seeking a confident veterinary nurse to help expand our affordable, specialist-led referral soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery service at Ellesmere Port Hospital. This role will provide the right candidate with a varied surgical caseload and the opportunity to advance their skills in anaesthesia. Working an attractive 4-day week with no weekends, the right candidate will benefit from an excellent work–life balance. This role will be theatre-based, where you will work closely with the surgical veterinary team, which includes surgical specialists (Diploma holders) and RCVS Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Surgery, and our existing team of surgical referral nurses. The right candidate will be confident with anaesthetics and working in a theatre environment, and will either hold or be keen to obtain a certificate in anaesthesia or surgery. We perform a wide variety of advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures including (but not limited to) TPLOs, fracture repairs, thoracic surgery, BOAS surgery, portosystemic shunts, and more. A good understanding of the needs of these patients is essential; however, further support and learning opportunities will be available for the right candidate.
