Job Description

As an Operating Engineer at JLL's specialized campus facility, you'll be responsible for the critical operation and maintenance of sophisticated industrial systems including solar turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and high-pressure boilers. This role demands deep technical expertise in one primary craft area while maintaining multi-skilled capabilities across electrical, plumbing, and central utility plant operations. You'll ensure seamless facility operations that support our life sciences client's mission-critical work, directly contributing to JLL's commitment to creating advanced, sustainable real estate solutions that enable breakthrough innovation and research.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment including solar turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and high-pressure boilers to ensure uninterrupted facility operations
  • Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance and repairs across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and building control systems while maintaining strict compliance with state and county regulations
  • Manage facility inventory, vendor relationships, and procurement processes including purchase order preparation, delivery verification, and contractor quality monitoring
  • Utilize CMMS systems to track all work orders, document maintenance activities, and analyze monthly service request data to identify and resolve recurring operational issues
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections, record system readings, and make precise adjustments to optimize performance while ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Coordinate with clients, management, and operations teams on project timelines, workload priorities, and communication regarding facility issues and maintenance schedules
  • Perform general facility maintenance tasks including furniture installation, equipment moves, and event setup coordination while minimizing disruption to client operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
  • Blue Seal Operating Engineer License with mandatory attainment of Red Seal Operating Engineer License within one year of employment
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in facility operations, building maintenance, or related technical field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety practices including energized work, PPE requirements, confined space protocols, and working at heights
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and web-based applications, with ability to create and modify processes, procedures, and reports
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and perform demanding tasks including frequent climbing, bending, stooping, and overhead work in various weather conditions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to read and interpret technical schematics and documentation

  • Completion of vocational or trade school program in relevant technical field
  • 2+ years of Operating Engineer experience specifically in life sciences or medical facility environments
