Assists in the coordination and implementation of recreational and leisure time activities and programs for individuals served by the Children’s Rehabilitation Center.
Job Responsibility:
Assists in implementation of recreation programs, including but not limited to, music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study, swimming, social recreation and games, Special Olympics, Pet Therapy, and adaptive physical exercise
Assists in adapting recreation programs to meet needs of each individual served
Maintains orderly recreation areas, cleans toys and other recreation equipment, and ensures appropriate inventory and maintenance of equipment and materials
Reports equipment needs to Recreation Coordinator
Leads recreation and leisure time activities for all individuals served who are not engaged in other active treatment programs
Implements program objectives and collects data on performance of individuals served on objectives
Turns in monthly data to Recreation Coordinator
Completes other paperwork as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator
Uses appropriate behavior modification techniques to manage inappropriate behavior by following established behavior programs
Provides support to other departments by providing additional services for children, including personal care, supervision during leisure time, and behavior management support
May be assigned to provide personal care and assist or train individuals in self-help skills to include toileting, grooming, feeding, bathing, and dressing
Transports individuals to and from recreation outings and/or special events safely, following successful completion of driver safety training
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to two years related experience and/or training preferred
Valid Arkansas Driver's License
Proof of insurability
Must be 18 years of age

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Physical ability to reach, stand, walk, sit, use hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell
Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Tolerance for outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise levels
