We are looking for a personable and organized Receptionist to support daily front-desk operations for a non-profit organization in Columbia, South Carolina. This Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming environment, managing incoming communications, and keeping office activity running smoothly. The selected candidate will serve as a key first point of contact for visitors and callers while providing dependable administrative support in a part-time capacity.
Job Responsibility
Welcome guests, staff, and community members with courtesy and direct them to the appropriate person or department
Manage a multi-line phone system by answering incoming calls promptly, transferring calls accurately, and taking clear messages when needed
Monitor front desk activity and maintain an orderly reception area that reflects a positive and detail-oriented image
Provide general administrative assistance such as handling basic office inquiries, supporting scheduling needs, and assisting with routine clerical tasks
Receive and route inbound communications efficiently to help ensure timely responses across the organization
Support part-time reception coverage while maintaining consistency, reliability, and strong customer service throughout the workday
Requirements
Prior experience performing front-desk or receptionist functions in an office setting
Ability to operate a multi-line or switchboard phone system with accuracy and confidence
Strong verbal communication skills and a courteous approach when interacting with callers and visitors
Comfortable handling a steady volume of inbound calls while staying organized and attentive to detail
Dependable time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a part-time contract role
Detail-oriented demeanor, sound judgment, and a service-oriented attitude suited to a non-profit environment
