Permanent | Part Time - 18-30 hours per week, working as part of a team of 3 receptionists on a rota basis. In 2026, Sheffield Children's will open the National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) at The Spark -- the first facility of its kind in the UK and a major step in our ambition to lead globally in child health research and innovation. This £24.2m, purpose-built centre at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park will drive the next generation of technology, treatments and models of care. We are looking for a professional and welcoming first point of contact for visitors to the site. You will manage enquiries, take and relay messages, and coordinate room and car-parking bookings to ensure a smooth visitor experience. The role will also require occasional evening or weekend working on a rota basis.
Job Responsibility:
Provide front-of-house and general administrative support, including managing messages, visitors, post and deliveries
Book and prepare rooms, arrange parking, and support building access as a key holder
Log and report maintenance issues and liaise with Estates, Security and site management
Maintain accurate filing systems and monitor stationery stock, placing orders as needed
Support the NCCHT management team with scheduling and general admin tasks
Manage website enquiries and ensure timely responses or escalation
Coordinate access badge permissions with IT and Estates
Assist with new starter inductions and work collaboratively to support a smooth patient and visitor experience
Requirements:
Recognised Level 2 qualification in business admin or equivalent experience
Experience of working in a fast paced, varied and busy role
Experience of answering queries confidently, directing people as necessary
Experience of working with electronic systems and processes
Excellent communication skills including confident telephone manner
IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and e-mail systems
Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise work according to deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
To demonstrate an understanding of GDPR / Data Protection Act
Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing priorities or urgent requests
Positive and helpful attitude when supporting colleagues, tenants, patients, and visitors
Respectful and considerate, promoting a welcoming environment for all building users
