The Reasonable Accommodation Consultant is responsible for managing and supporting the company's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), and applicable state and local disability laws. This role provides subject matter expertise in workplace accommodations, ensuring that requests are handled timely, consistently, and in alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and business needs.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the end-to-end reasonable accommodation process to include, individualized case assessment, interactive discussions, documentation, and implementation
Conduct individualized assessments to determine the essential functions of roles and identify reasonable accommodations that do not create undue hardship
Partner with colleagues, managers, HR, and Legal to facilitate timely and appropriate accommodations
Provide expert guidance and coaching to HR and business leaders on ADA/ADAAA compliance and best practices
Review and analyze medical documentation to determine functional limitations and job-related restrictions
Champion and promote a positive employee relations climate, providing appropriate counsel and support to ensure that any Reasonable Accommodation processes are delivered to maximize the colleague and manager experience
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local disability laws, and maintain thorough, accurate, and confidential case documentation
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in HR, Employee Relations, Leave Management, or ADA/Reasonable Accommodation administration
Strong knowledge of ADA, ADAAA, FMLA, and relevant state disability and leave laws
Experience managing complex accommodation cases in a large, multi-state organization
Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
Experience with HRIS or case management systems (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow)
Experience in a healthcare, retail, or large corporate environment
Knowledge of occupational health and ergonomic practices
