Job Responsibility

  • Execute real estate property tax administration for a portfolio of primarily CRE properties across Texas, as well as a small percentage of out-of-state clients
  • Drive down taxable value through varying valuation and negotiation methods
  • Prepare well-organized client information and supporting documentation requests. Maintain positive relationships with assessor and tax jurisdiction personnel
  • Prepare assessment appeal support docs and negotiate values with assessors
  • Prepare, attend, and present appeals to the local jurisdictions both informally and formally at the Board hearings
  • Prepare property tax estimates, tax savings reports, and other valuation or tax reports for clients as needed
  • Review and approve client tax bills for payment
  • Travel as required to attend appeal hearings, property inspections, and client meetings
  • Stay up to date on market trends as it relates to real estate and/or property tax

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of previous Commercial Real Estate (CRE) tax consulting or CRE appraisal and general property tax consulting experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Critical thinking skills and an eye for detail
  • Ability to consolidate and analyze large and complex data sets
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Possess general understanding of real estate valuation methods, including the cost approach, sales comparison approach and income approach as well as equity as it relates to property values
  • Work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to build strong internal and external working relationships
  • Able to manage your time and prioritizing tasks effectively
  • Able to research potentially complex property tax issues
  • Able to travel as required to attend appeal hearings, property inspections, and client meetings
  • Texas Property Tax Consulting License from TDLR preferred

Nice to have

Previous experience with multi-state Real Estate/Property Tax work a plus
