Job Description

Our client is a privately held real estate investment and development firm with a long-standing presence in the Bay Area. They manage a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate and are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support their growing finance team.

Job Responsibility

  • Support accounting activities, including job costing, budgets, contract administration, and change order tracking.
  • Process accounts payable transactions, vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment requests while ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
  • Assist with project-related billing, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accounting records and ensure transactions are accurately recorded within the company's ERP system.
  • Coordinate with project teams to monitor project costs and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Prepare documentation to support project funding requests and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage vendor records, payment processing, and year-end tax reporting, including 1099s.
  • Review employee expense reports and corporate credit card activity for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and other recurring accounting schedules.
  • Support month-end close activities, reporting, process improvements, and other ad hoc accounting projects.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably supporting construction, real estate, or project-based accounting.
  • Experience with ERP or property management accounting software
  • Yardi experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of accounts payable, job costing, and general accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Oversee the accounting activity for an assigned group of residential properties, ensuring general ledger records and supporting transactions remain accurate and up to date
  • Manage receivables by coordinating with on-site staff to collect required lease documentation, following up on tenant balances, and addressing billing questions or discrepancies
  • Prepare tenant renewal-related financial documents, complete move-out accounting, and issue final disposition documentation with appropriate backup
