We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team in New York, New York, specializing in real estate and property law. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of legal tasks, including lease management, tenant relations, collections, and corporate compliance. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in commercial and residential real estate matters while maintaining a high level of organization and professionalism.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze newly signed leases and accurately update system records, ensuring all necessary details are reviewed and entered
Manage yearly preparation and filing of residential leases and deferral or abatement agreements
Process payments for corporate and LLC fees, ensuring timely issuance and distribution of checks
Update and maintain Delaware Entity charts, including online fee payments for approximately 70 entities
Create and maintain organizational charts and handle letters of credit for tenants, including regular monitoring and recordkeeping
Oversee tenant move-outs, resolving any outstanding issues related to real estate taxes or other lease-related discrepancies
Address tenant inquiries regarding security deposits, billing issues, and landlord documentation such as W-9 forms
Facilitate collection processes for commercial, retail, and residential properties, supervising legal counsel and tracking proceedings from initial notices to eviction
Coordinate with leasing agents, property managers, and accounts receivable teams to ensure effective rent collection and resolution of arrears
Conduct legal research, maintain case files, and prepare reports for monthly meetings related to arrears and settlements
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Paralegal, with a strong focus on real estate law
Expertise in corporate, commercial, and residential real estate matters, including leasing and title work
Proficiency in legal research and document preparation, with attention to detail and accuracy
Familiarity with landlord-tenant law and the eviction process, including collections and arrears reconciliation
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines, case files, and reporting requirements
Ability to collaborate effectively with legal counsel, property managers, and other stakeholders
Proficiency in relevant software, including leasing systems and document management tools
Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to address tenant inquiries and disputes efficiently
