Position Overview: A respected Chicago-based law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to support sophisticated commercial real estate matters. This role supports attorneys in the coordination and execution of commercial and residential real estate transactions. Responsibilities span the full transaction lifecycle, including due diligence, documentation, closing, and post-closing activities related to acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, and development matters.
Job Responsibility:
Assist attorneys in reviewing contracts, inspection materials, and due diligence documentation
Facilitate the ordering and review of title commitments, surveys, and related documents
communicate with third-party providers to resolve discrepancies
Track and manage transaction timelines, including critical dates and closing checklists
Coordinate escrow arrangements and facilitate the transfer or deposit of funds with appropriate parties
Support closing processes by preparing conveyance documents, settlement statements, and related transaction materials
Obtain and organize required documentation for closings, such as tax records, insurance certificates, zoning documentation, and payoff statements
Oversee post-closing tasks, including preparation of closing files, binders, and tracking outstanding deliverables
Draft correspondence, memoranda, and preliminary transactional documents for attorney review
Compile and review lease abstracts, loan summaries, and zoning-related reports
Coordinate with internal teams on entity formation, maintenance, and compliance matters for various business structures
Prepare and file UCC financing statements and conduct lien searches

Manage document recording across multiple jurisdictions
Assist with preparation of supporting documentation, exhibits, and transaction packages
Research jurisdictional requirements related to transfer taxes, recording procedures, and document execution
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred
3+ years of experience supporting real estate transactions, including exposure to acquisitions, financing, leasing, and development work within a professional services or corporate environment
Notary commission or ability to obtain licensure preferred
